6. Tighten the oil filter with the wrench in a star pattern. Tighten the oil filter in a star pattern, tightening each bolt a little bit at a time until they are snug.
7. Replace the oil filter cap. Tighten the oil filter cap with the wrench.
8. Start the vehicle and check the oil level. Add oil if necessary.
9. Dispose of the old oil filter properly.
